Journal of Aesthetics & Protest is an artist collective founded in Los Angeles by twin brothers Robby and Marc Herbst and currently based in Germany, whose magazine sits at the discursive juncture of fine art, media theory and anti-authoritarian activism. The collective publishes its own books and invites authors and artists to collaborate with them in printing and/or working to distribute them. Since 2000, the editorial collective has also been hosting dialogues and framing dialogical relationships which embed the protocols of exchange in liberating practice.

Words find action in dialogue. Dialogue finds meaning in action. Lectures and public presentations are a part of the editorial collective’s practice. Their approach to conversations is dialogical, situated and creative.
