Founded in 2015 and operating between Harare and New York, Black Chalk & Co is a creative agency operating on a four tier approach. Publishing and distributing radical knowledge and beauty to challenge over represented voices and ideals. Seminars and lectures to share experiences with peers and invested audiences through public talks and workshops disseminating work as an ongoing performance. Exhibitions hosting unconventional curatorial initiatives and partnerships outside of traditional spaces by a diasporadic team with a global outlook. And residencies facilitating cultural exchanges, participation and collaboration with other institutions sharing their values.

Black Chalk & Co is co-founded and co-curated by Tinashe Mushakavanhu, a writer, editor and scholar from Zimbabwe. He holds degrees from English, Welsh and Zimbabwean universities and has been invested in how the poetics of anarchy inform creative writing, digital media and African literature. And by Nontsikelelo Mutiti, a Zimbabwean born visual artist and educator invested in elevating the work and practices of Black peoples past, present and future through a conceptual approach to design, experimental publishing / archiving practices and peer to peer collaborations.
